They began under the name of Iris, but three years, a name change, and several member switch ups, the boys are finally taking their unique blend of passion and noise on the road. We caught up with the guys right before they played a show in Austin, Texas. We talked about how the band started, whet the message of their music is, and what studio to NEVER record at if you are in Texas.
Top 5 Music Videos For June

Top 5 Music Videos For June

Its that time again, we wade through the videos that debuted this month and bring you the best ones. You may very well think our list is terrible, but then again, you arnt writing this blog, are you? There are actually two more, but I already put them up in previous weeks, so I don’t really feel like posting them again (the new CDs from Mr.Del and The Crucified can be found in previous posts). I know that sounded really snarky, but lets be honest, no one is reading this anyway…
Essential Songs: The Artist In The Ambulance by Thrice

Essential Songs: The Artist In The Ambulance by Thrice

In 2003, a post-hardcore band calling themselves Thrice unleashed their major label debut on the world. The Artist In The Ambulance was a crushing display of talent, energy, and honesty. Despite the fact that the band was labeled as “hard rock”, leader Dustin Kensrue’s lyrics reflected a more insightful and passionate way of looking at the world. For many, the crown jewel of this album was the title track; a song warning against apathy and being grateful for the time given.
Hundred Year Storm On The ONE21

Hundred Year Storm On The ONE21

Hundred Year Storm is a progressive rock band from right here in Austin, TX. After years of extensive touring and a strong fan base, the band kind of dropped off the map a few years back. In 2009, they are back with a new album called The Future Belongs To The Brave. We were able to catch up with them at their CD release party/BBQ and talk about the history of the band, the sound of their new album, and what comes next for this extremely talented band.
The Best Of Voices Of The Undergound

The Best Of Voices Of The Undergound

For those that dont know, Voices Of The Underground was a series we developed to reach a broad range of opinions on some the topics we talk about here on the website. The idea was simple, ask a large group of musicians the same 15 questions, then roll out the responses one question at a time per week. What resulted was an amazing ride through the hearts and minds of the artists that are creating the music you love. As we gear up for a new Voices Of The Underground, we thought it would be cool to highlight some our favorite responses from the 15 questions that we sent out months ago.
